Echinopsis ancistrophora, also known as Easter lily cactus, night-blooming hedgehog, and domino cactus, is a succulent native to western Argentina and southern Bolivia, where it grows at elevations that seem to me so distant and exalted — 600 to 2,500 meters above sea level. According to the Encyclopedias of Living Forms, field observers have noticed a decline in its population due to “expanding agriculture, urbanization, and extraction for ornamental use.”
