Malvaviscus penduliflorus, also known as sleeping hibiscus, droop from their branches after a spring shower

Hi! My name is Siyon, and I’m a writer, translator, and multidisciplinary artist.

Born and raised in Korea, Siyon is a lifelong wanderer whose penchant for exploration and new sights has taken her to middle-of-nowhere New Hampshire for her undergraduate degree, Upstate New York for her Master’s degree in creative writing, and now Central Florida, where she is building a life with her husband, daughter, and two Boston Terriers.

Her work is concerned with matrescence and the female experience from girlhood to womanhood, queer sexuality, her personal journey of migration from Korea to America, living between languages, and the natural world — its beauty, terror, and hope. Her writing has received support from the Lambda Literary Writer’s Retreat, Atlantic Center for the Arts, and Mendocino Coast Writers’ Conference. Click here for a more detailed artist CV.
